Stefan Grossman's "Ultimate Country Blues" comes on 6 DVDs
with 4 booklets. This is our favorite blues guitar course.
These lessons are so far beyond what anyone else
is teaching, that it puts this course in a league
of its own. Stefan personally studied with country
blues legends like Rev. Gary Davis and has done
a truly outstanding job of making this style
accessible to anyone who wants to learn.
The only drawback here is that this course only focuses on one style of the blues.
Still, this course is our top pick.
Dan Denley's "Blues Guitar Secrets 2.0" is a solid blues course
that comes on 9 DVDs plus a CD of jam tracks, plus a booklet.
Here we have a complete, well taught couse covering a variety of
chords, progressions, exercises, licks and more.
The material is great and we like Dan's teaching style as
he takes the student step-by-step through all the scales
needed to play blues, blues licks, and playing with a band.
This is a top-notch, comprehensive course for the aspiring blues guitarist.
Griff Hamlin's "Blues Guitar Unleashed" is an excellent, easy-to-follow course
that comes on 4 DVDs, 2 CDs and a booklet.
Griff plays well and really takes his time to explain in detail a lot of
important points that other teachers may skip over.
Even though this course is aimed at beginners, there's
still a lot of cool information here. The DVDs, and
the printed booklet are remarkably easy to learn from.
This might be the best course on the market for the raw beginner.
Claude Johnson's "How to Play Smokin' Blues Guitar" is a unique
course that includes 3 DVDs and 245 online tabs.
This course lives up to it's "smokin" title because it includes
a lot of hard-to-find lessons on the more uncommon
and sophisticated aspects of both electric and acoustic blues.
Although no printed booklets come with this course, downloadable
tabs are provided and it is priced very affordably.
If you already know some blues basics and want to
learn advanced techniques such as harmonization
patterns, melodic devices, and progressive lead guitar ideas,
then this course is the one you want.
Zack Robert's "50 professional blues backing tracks"
is another interesting choice and a good product.
It includes 50 downloadable audio files and several
bonus items.
Although not as comprehensive as some of the other
courses here, it does come with 50 backing tracks
recorded with live instruments.
The tracks sound good and the price is right. Recommended
if you're on a tight budget.
